Why Does Your Dog Follow You Everywhere – Even The Bathroom?

Have you ever wondered why your dog follow you everywhere? And yes, even if the bathroom?

This has been one of the source of jokes for pet lovers. But this is actually happening in real life. When you have a dog, alone time is scarce. Your dog wants to be with you everywhere you go.

What is behind this behavior?

Dogs are territorial and as part of the family, you are part of the territory that he secures. It is their intrinsic behavior to work as a cooperation. That he can be a back-up when you explore the house, including the bathroom.

Another reason for your dog to follow you is that he does not want to be alone. You are your dog’s world and being together always is what he wants.

You can lessen this behavior when you provide a distraction. Give your dog a toy or keep him entertained while you go about your day with a toy stuffed with a food treat. Make sure that you exercise your dog even for just 30 minutes a day. Then teach your dog the basic commands such as sit stay and come.

Dog following may be annoying but it is one way of your dog’s affection to you.

So the next time your dog is walking a few steps behind you, it may be a reminder that he needs his walk or your attention.

How Often Should Your Dog Have Rabies Vaccination?

Rabies Vaccination is one of the common shots that is given to the dogs.

Rabies or Lyssavirus is an infectious disease that targets the central nervous system in mammals. An infected animal usually behaves abnormally.

How Rabies Is Transmitted

A rabid animal can transmit this virus through bite. The virus is present in the saliva after it has travelled through the animal’s brain. This is when the animal can transmit the disease.

You have to remember that rabies cannot be transmitted through urine, feces or blood. This virus is not airborne and cannot affect the open environment.

Humans are usually infected from a bite, scratch or abrasion. The rabies virus can also infect if the saliva or brain tissue of the rabid animal gets in contact with open wounds or mucous membranes.

To make sure that you protect your family from the rabies virus, vaccination is the key. The first shot of rabies vaccination should be given to your dog at 3 months. Then every year after the first shot.

It is vital for pet owners to keep their pets updated on vaccinations. Rabies vaccination should be a priority. This is not just for the safety of the dog but for the family as well.

Why Does Your Cat Bite You?

Why Does Your Cat Bite You?

Why does your cat bite you? Cat biting may seem to be a normal behavior for cats. But sometimes this can be confusing to the cat owner. One minute your cat seems to love the attention then the next minute bites you.

There can be three explanations to cat biting:

Affectionate Cat Bite

Biting can also be your cat’s way to show affection. Some dubbed such biting as love bites. Mommy cats nibble and lick on their kittens when grooming. This could be your cat’s way of telling you of his love for you.

Do not hit or yell at your cat. The simplest way to stop the behavior is to walk away.

If such behavior annoys you, you can redirect his attention. Give your cat a treat or his favorite toy to distract him.

Playful Cat Bite

When your cat bites you, it may mean that he just wants to play. Biting and licking are part of a cat’s play.

Most cats that play rough are those that were separated from the cat litter too young. Kittens that were able to interact with their siblings and mommy are able to learn the extent of rough play.

You can teach your cat that such rough play is not acceptable. Like affectionate biting, walk away when your cat is biting too much. This will let your cat know that to play with you, he has to be more gentle.

Overstimulated Cat Bite

As many know, cats have their own threshold of things. Just when you thought they are having fun they suddenly bite you.

They liked being petted or played with but to some extent only. And that is the tricky part in understanding your cat – when is play enough or too long?

It can be different from cat to cat. One way to know if your cat is getting overstimulated is their body language. When you see your cat’s tail is wagging, ears are back and body stiffening, then time to back off.

Some cats even go from purring to over stimulated in a matter of seconds. It is essential to read your cat’s body signals to avoid overstimulation.

Cat biting may be part of your cat’s behavior. But you can still avoid it by learning to understand your cat.

With these, you know the answer to the all too common question: why does your cat bite you?
