Pet Deworming: Do You Know You Can Get Worms From Your Pet?

Protect Yourself From Your Pet Dog’s Worms with Pet Deworming

Your Pet Dog May Have Worms

Not to cause any panic but right at this moment, there’s a big chance that your pet may have worms.

Of course, the presence of worms depends on the environment, presence of other pets, presence of mosquitos, presence of fleas and what you feed your furbaby.

There are four worms that stand out and could affect your dog namely: dog roundworms, hookworms, tapeworms and heartworms.

All of these worms can also infect people and that includes you as a pet owner.

The roundworms and hookworms are transmitted through swallowing.  Hookworms can also be transmitted by ground contact.  The tapeworm is transmitted through fleas.  Heartworms are transmitted by mosquito bites.

The roundworm, hookworm and tapeworm are typically found in the intestine.  The heartworm – as the name suggests – is found in the heart/lungs.

Signs Your Pet is Already Infected

There are several signs that may show your pet is infected with worms.  Some of these symptoms are coughing, weakness, exercise intolerance, vomiting and diarrhea.  Sometimes, the worms can be seen in the stool.

Have Your Pet Tested

Tests are available to detect the presence of these common dog worms.  As a responsible pet owner, you should ask your family veterinarian about this.

Your vet will recommend that your dog will undergo such tests regularly.  Test result will determine if your dog is worm-free or not. And if there are worms present, the test will help him figure out what is the best solution for your pet’s health.

There are specific meds required for the treatment for each type of worm.  Knowing what worm is infecting your pet will help in identifying the right meds for your pet.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure . . .

Another thing to ask your family veterinarian is if there are preventatives available for each worm.  Medicine that will work on the large roundworm and the hookworm may not work on the tapeworm.  There is also a specific preventative medicine for heartworms.

Why Go To A Licensed Veterinarian

Prevention is much better than treating the presence of worms.  This is especially true for heartworms.  Once your dog has this kind of worm, the treatment has some risks and can be expensive. The treatment can even drag to several months.  In the worst cases, it cannot be treated at all.

When your pet is infected with a lot of hookworms, this can be detrimental to your pet’s health.  Your pet will become very sick and may even lead to death.

The roundworm and tapeworm may not be as bad as the two mentioned earlier, but can also cause your pet to get very ill.

Pet Deworming and Prevention

Get your pets, especially your dogs, to avail of pet deworming services.

It’s best to go to your veterinarian so your pet can be dewormed if he has any intestinal worms.  He can also prescribe preventives if there are worms detected.

With heartworms, he will recommend a special preventive program for this.  Hopefully your dog doesn’t have any.

What To Do With Your Scratching Cat As A Responsible Pet Owner

What To Do With Your Scratching Cat?

Have you wondered why your cat keeps on scratching?

There are various reasons why your cat may be scratching. A few of these include fungal infection, bacterial infection, skin allergy and parasites.

The most common reason why your cat is scratching is having parasites.

If you are a cat lover you would know that the parasites that are attacking your cat are fleas. Unfortunately, fleas can be found all over the world and your pet can have them wherever you are in the world.

You can learn more about Ticks and Fleas here.

Possible Treatment of Fleas: Do They Work?

There are a lot of supposed ways to treat fleas.

But the question is, do they work?

Herbal Remedies: Are These Safe?

Some say herbal remedies like garlic can be used. That is quite unlikely.

Another thing is, can you actually give your cat garlic? Garlic can be toxic to cats that even a small clove can cause damage to your pet.

Others recommend the use of combs and even say an electric one is better as it removes or kills fleas.

The problem is, you can’t get all of the fleas using that comb.  Even if you do,  there will always be new fleas coming from the environment.

Shampoos: Do They Work Long-Term?

Ticks and fleas shampoos are also available in the market. While they may work, you have to consider a couple of problems.

One – Have you ever tried giving your cat a bath?  It is very difficult and you will soon find out what it feels like to be in a Mixed Martial Arts match.

Second problem is that they don’t work too long.

For an effective flea treatment, you need the treatment to work continuously for a month.  Shampoos will only work a couple of days at most, so you will be needing to bathe your cat a lot.

All cat owners would agree that bathing a cat would be extremely difficult or maybe impossible at all.

Have you ever wondered if ticks and fleas bite people? Find out here.

Tick and Flea Spot On:  Is It Really Safe?

These days bring in better tick and flea treatment that are easy to use for pet owners.

And they actually work like magic!!!

One of these meds is the Spot-On Treatment that you just drop on the nape of your cat where your pet cannot reach to lick it.  Within a day or so, the meds will spread on every millimeter of cat skin on its own.

This treatment will be able to protect your cat for a month!

Also when using this Spot-On Treatment, on top of keeping your cat from getting fleas, he or she will also be protected from ticks, lice and mites!

You may be wondering if this Spot-On Treatment is safe?

In the medical sense, these meds have been tested for several years in large companies at the cost of millions of dollars and have passed several safety tests.

People with PhDs have conducted a lot of studies to make sure they do not cause any harm on your furball.  Studies were done citing the effectiveness of these Spot-On Treatment.

Those who have used this treatment have given feedback:

This is a good product. We have used Frontline for year. It works on our three cats well, killing fleas and especially ticks. you should read how it is applied so you know how it works. It is a “systemic” medicine, absorbed into the cat’s skin. When a tick or flea bits, they get a dose, and die.” – Bob

Great value good product. “We use this on our 10 year old indoor cat, as he does frequent an outdoor screened in sunporch and also makes an occasional escape when the humans are bringing in groceries and distracted. We have not seen any fleas or droppings on him or his bedding.

Also included in the package is a small sheet of stickers you can apply to your planner or calendar reminding you when it is time to reapply the treatment each month and a sticker reminding you to reorder.” – Mary

Really Good Product. “I have used Frontline for many years on my pets with no adverse reactions, only positive results.” – Seek Felicity

What should you do?  Contact us at (02) 8896-6386 / 8896-2860 / 0908-896-7113 so we set an appointment and teach you which meds can be used for cats to eliminate scratching in cat.

In addition to that, we will also give recommendations on what vaccines, diet and trim their nails so you and your feline friends will stay healthy.

Frontline Plus Flea and Tick Control For Dogs: Some Facts You Need To Know

“Pagpatak ng umaga, mayang hapon laglagan na ang mga garapata!”  This is what a happy pet owner says about Frontline Plus Flea and Tick Control For Dogs.

If we counted the times a paw-parent has mentioned the words “fleas” and “ticks”, we can already have a glance at how much these creatures have caused them a lot of trouble.

But before anything else, the first step to resolving a problem is to identify it.

Frontline Dogs: CHECK YOUR DOGS FOR FLEAS AND TICKS

Fleas and ticks are mite-like creatures that may resemble a spider. (Quick fact! Fleas and ticks are members of the arachnid family and are actually related to spiders. People would usually mistake them as insects but they are not.)

Brush your dog’s hair or run your fingers through their skin and if you feel tiny bumps along the way, then these are probably your enemies AKA fleas and ticks.

Frontline Dogs: COMMON MISCONCEPTION OF GETTING RID OF FLEAS AND TICKS

I’m sure you’ve got the news that you can burn fleas and ticks so they would flee your dog’s skin. That’s a big NO NO!

In doing this, the mouth part of these parasites still remains intact on your dog and may cause further infection. One way to properly remove them is by using tweezers with a fine point to ensure that even their mouths get disposed of.

It is advisable to flush them down the toilet right after.

FRONTLINE PLUS FLEA AND TICK CONTROL FOR DOGS SAVES THE DAY!

Flea and tick control vary from different products that you may have probably Googled at some point.

But what if I tell you that a product that I truly trust is not only readily available online but is also the solution to your tick and flea problems? Convenient and effective, you might say? Tama ang nabasa niyo!

Frontline Plus is fast-acting, killing adult fleas within 12 hours of application!

Frontline SpotOn Flea and Tick Control for Cats: Everything You Need To Know!

frontline spoton cats

Does giving your cats flea baths a stressful experience? Frontline SpotOn Flea and Tick Control for Cats is for you!

Cats are independent furry creatures who are known to be self-cleaning machines which is why they are the type that doesn’t need frequent bathing. Cats are not the biggest fans of the waters, they may also find this time a bit scary and quite uncomfortable.

Worry no more with Frontline SpotOn Flea and Tick Control for Cats

For sure, you’ve probably heard of the saying, “You wouldn’t put the words ‘cat’ and ‘bath’ together in the same sentence, unless it also included the word ‘never’!”

“So Doc, paano na ang fleas and ticks ng alaga ko kung ang hirap niya paliguan?” You might find yourself in constant stress as you go around this question.

Huwag na mag-aalala! It’s time to say goodbye to all your worries because your choices for flea and tick control are not limited to your usual cat shampoo!

Frontline SpotOn Flea and Tick Control for Cats: How does it work?

Unlike flea baths that may cause a water mess around your home and injections that will surely make them whine; Frontline SpotOn Flea and Tick Control for Cats is definitely your best friend!

It is a topical solution that can be applied within seconds, having a 3-step application process. With a few doses, it provides a month-long protection against these blood-sucking parasites that continue to torment your kitties before they even bite!

Before squeezing onto your cat’s skin, preferably between the shoulder blades or down the back (as to prevent your cat from licking the product), you have to ensure that they are relaxed so that they won’t see treatments as something traumatic.

Try to keep an eye on your pets as they tend to roll over and play around, causing the solution to be rubbed off.

Frontline SpotOn Flea and Tick Control for Cats: A stray cat’s friend!

You might have a notion that this product’s effectivity is limited to those who keep their cats indoors to avoid any contact from fleas and ticks, preventing them to get infected.

That’s where I beg to differ!

Alex Spencer, a happy cat owner, can attest to that with his statement: “We have a rescue cat so she spends a lot of time outdoors. As a result, she gets fleas fairly often. This product works very well for getting rid of the fleas that are actually living on your cat.

Whether your cat is a homebody or an adventurer like Alex’s pet, Frontline SpotOn Flea and Tick Control for Cats is perfect for you!

Cat Toxoplasmosis: Can Being Pregnant and Keeping Our Cat Possible?

Cat Toxoplasmosis

Is Cat Toxoplasmosis for real?

Even if you are not a cat lover, one time or another you might have heard that cats and pregnant women do not mix.

More often than not, people tend to be on the safe side and let go of their cats when they find out that a baby is on the way. This is sad for the cats and I am here to correct this misinformation.

First, let me tell you about Cat Toxoplasmosis.

Toxoplasmosis comes from the parasite toxoplasma gondii. This parasite can be found in soil, raw meat and cat feces among others. For normal human beings, they can get infected and may never know it. They may only feel flu-like symptoms and will be fine eventually.

Now for pregnant women, the case is different.

Women affected with toxoplasmosis even within three months before getting pregnant can affect the unborn child. The infection can cause miscarriage, stillbirth or significant damage to the baby’s brain as well as other organs especially the eyes. Some develop blindness during childhood or even in adulthood.

This sounds scary, I know, but only 4 out of 10 cases of cat toxoplasmosis infection will pass to the baby.

So the ultimate question then is this: Can being pregnant and keeping your cat possible?

The simple answer is YES.

Yes, you can have a cat and take care of it even when pregnant. You do not have to give away your cats or let them live in a shelter just because you are expecting. In everything there is a solution and that includes keeping your cat while waiting for your little bundle of joy.

Cat Toxoplasmosis: Guidelines To Ensure Safety For The Pregnant Woman

Of course, there are precautions you have to follow. And you have to make conscious effort to ensure that you follow the guidelines.

  1. Avoid touching cat feces. Assign someone else to change your cat’s litter box. If you have to do it, wear gloves and wash your hands thoroughly afterwards.
  2. Avoid eating cured meat and raw meat.
  3. If you handle raw meat for preparing dishes, make sure that you wash the chopping board, utensils, knives and your hands properly with soap and water.
  4. Wash fruits and vegetables before cooking or eating them that all traces of soil are removed.
  5. Do not drink unpasteurized goat’s milk and dairy products processed from it.
  6. If you have other children in the house, cover the sandbox when not in use. Your cat may make it another litter box.
  7. If you are into gardening, do not touch soil directly. Always use a glove, when doing your garden works. Do not forget to clean up afterwards.

Other than not touching cat feces and soil directly – the other guidelines are more of practical advice. Something that most if not all should be doing in their house already. These may be a lot but with practice and understanding what Cat Toxoplasmosis is about, you can continue to live with your cat even if you are pregnant.

If you want to learn more about toxoplasmosis and your cat’s test, you can call us at these numbers:  Or just go to Makati Dog and Cat Hospital from 7AM to 5PM, Mondays to Saturdays. These are the numbers to call: (02) 8896-6386 / 8896-2860 / 0908-896-7113.

BROADLINE FOR TICKS AND FLEAS: How to protect your felines on the spot!

Broadline

For years, it has been believed that cats are immune to the harsh bites of ticks and fleas. But are they really in the safe zone?

And because I care for you, I’m glad to be your myth buster!

Yes, your felines can get infested by these small (but terrible) creatures as well, and if not treated on its early onset stage, there’s a huge possibility that it can get a lot worse.

So if you start seeing signs of ticks and fleas (constant scratching, biting or chewing on the skin, fur loss or bald patches) but if you’re racing against time to have it checked, run to your kitchen and grab the nearest towel and mild dishwashing liquid!

Take note: This may not be a fun time for our kitties as they are not the biggest fans of the waters. *wink*

So how do you it, you may ask?

It’s pretty simple! It will just be a typical cat bath but use a mild dishwashing liquid instead. The soap will slowly kill the ticks and fleas as it destroys their exoskeleton. To avoid their sensitive skin from drying, use regular cat shampoo right after.

Of course, it won’t be that easy to get rid of these mite-like beings, and from time to time, you might have to use some treatments you’ve found online. But are you sure they’re safe?

Here Comes Broadline For Ticks And Fleas

It is always a good decision to go to your trusted Veterinarian for tips and constant check-ups. As a tenured professional in this field, I’ve tried so many products who promise safe and fast-acting solutions to my patients.

But finally, I’ve found the perfect one for your cats; I can surely vouch for Broadline for Ticks and Fleas! It is gentle, effective and kind to your cats— inside and out!

Say goodbye to ticks and fleas with Broadline! Pay a visit to PreventPuppyProblems.com to know more, and don’t forget to share the word to your fellow paw-parents!
